Graduated college in 2008 at the dawn of the economic downturn. During the the graduation ceremony the master of ceremonies acknowledged this and wished us all good luck, then at the end I was the only person to throw my cap into the air. I watched it soar through the air several rows over and crash into someones head. It was handed back to me as we shuffled out. A solemn graduation.. a sober event. The months that followed was a flurry of job hunting and about 500 applictions sent out to places all over the USA. Not a single response. There I was introduced to the catch 22 of being a fresh grad. How are you supposed to gain real world experience if you cannot find a job in the first place?
So I gave up the job search and sold all my belongings to go hike the Appalachian trail in spring of 2009. Somewhere along the way I recieved a call from Ryan Harring. He owns a company out of Murfreesboro Tn called
Super PC. He had seen my
artwork
in his wife's boutique. He asked if I would do some web graphics for his online store. So that was my first big break after college. Only took just over a year. After I finished hiking the trail, I moved back to Murfreesboro tn to begin freelancing for Super PC.
Then in July 2010 I had just finished this website when the very next morning I received a call from the online division at the
Chattanooga Times Free Press. I went in for an interview and got the job that August. I've been with them every since.
